The People of Gaza Still Need Your Support
Just two weeks after a violent and fatal crackdown by the Israeli army against unarmed protesters, Gaza is still reeling. At night, the sound of drones flying overhead fills the air with a foreboding buzz. “
In April, the medical sector in Gaza declared a state of emergency, as basic medical supplies have been critically low. To address this critical shortage, UPA immediately purchased the necessary pharmaceuticals and consumables from the local market and delivered them last week.
Most recently, UPA was informed by a local Gaza hospital that they were in serious need of more recovery rooms for patients. Coordinating with hospital workers, UPA staff was able to quickly clean out and properly outfit storage space in the hospital to serve as recovery rooms for 30 – 36 patients at a time. These rooms are complete and are now functional and helping to save lives.
Unfortunately, this crisis doesn’t stop with recovery rooms. Hospitals across Gaza are still on the brink of exhausting their medical supplies.
With gratitude,
The UPA Team
