Help Stock New Recovery Rooms in Gaza

Before the last coat of paint was applied, patients were already being wheeled into newly-renovated recovery rooms at the overcrowded hospital. Within 24 hours, 100 patients had already been seen in the rooms.

The violent backlash against protesters in Gaza during the last two months has pushed the entire Gazan health care system to the brink. UPA responded by renovating the extra storage space at the Jordanian Field Hospital in Gaza to serve as recovery rooms for 30 – 36 patients at a time.

“These rooms provided extra support to patients due to the shortage in medical facilities in Gaza… Many people were critically injured, and it was an opportunity for the hospital to provide the necessary treatment,” said Dr. Hatem Al Zoobi, medical director at the Jordanian Field Hospital in Gaza.

While these rooms are helping to provide proper space for critical treatments, the entire medical sector in Gaza faces a dire shortage of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.

If you haven’t already, please support UPA’s efforts to airlift 2 shipping containers of these desperately needed supplies to Gaza by making a donation to the Emergency Relief Fund today.

With gratitude,

Saleem F. Zaru
Executive Director
