Commemorating 40 Years of Service

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, DC, June 26th, 2018– United Palestinian Appeal will commemorate its 40 years of service with an anniversary banquet on September 20th. This Washington-area event, entitled “A Celebration of Life and Hope, UPA’s 40th Anniversary Banquet,” will launch the international recognition of UPA’s 40 years of service with events to follow in Jordan, the West Bank, and Gaza Strip. The events will pay tribute to UPA’s partners and beneficiaries in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Lebanon and Jordan, and to the true change-makers: UPA’s staff on the ground.

As UPA continues its work of transforming lives and empowering communities, recognizing 40 years of service is perhaps best embodied in the symbolism of the olive tree, the event’s visual theme. The olive tree is a true reflection of longevity, perseverance and a deeply-rooted connection of Palestinian communities to the land. As each year’s olive harvest approaches, a renewed sense of hope is recognized with a new sense of unwavering resilience in the face of adversity. It is a true image of sumud, or steadfastness. This is what UPA’s work is all about.

Elegant yet not Extravagant

It has been several decades since UPA has held an event of this nature and size. In this regard, we have selected an affordable venue in order to continue maximizing revenue toward UPA’s programs. Your generous sponsorship will further UPA’s mission. The event will be held at the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, VA.

We look forward to making these occasions meaningful for UPA’s community of supporters, change-makers, and beneficiaries. We will be honored and humbled to have your support as we pay tribute to UPA’s 40 years of service. Sponsorship opportunities are available and are tax-deductible according to applicable laws. For sponsorship inquiries please contact: Deena Faruki, dfaruki@upaconnect.org.

About United Palestinian Appeal

In 1978, a group of Palestinian-American businessmen and professionals witnessed the deep predicament Palestinian communities continued to face thirty years after Nakba. They recognized the need to establish an independent platform to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and contribute to the long term socio-economic development of Palestinian communities in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and the diaspora. Thus, United Palestinian Appeal was born. Currently, UPA, www.upaconnect.org, works in four program areas: Health & Wellness, Community & Economic Development, Education, and Outreach.
