Emergency Response to the Crisis in Palestine
May 14, 2021
In response to recent violent attacks, numerous injuries, loss of life, threat of expulsion, destruction of homes and livelihoods in Gaza, Jerusalem and throughout Palestine, UPA is coordinating with our local field staff and partners to implement an emergency response plan.
The plan draws on UPA’s Emergency Relief Fund, which supports the distribution of emergency medical aid, emergency psychological support, food, water, clothing, hygiene kits, pharmaceuticals, and other needs during crises.
In Gaza, emergency food will be distributed to families most severely affected and critical medical supplies will be delivered to Palestine Red Crescent Society Hospital and Al Awda Hospital. Also, UPA’s own mental health team is providing emergency psychological support to the community.
In Jerusalem, UPA’s longtime partner Al Makassed Charitable Hospital which is receiving many of the casualties in the Jerusalem area will be supported by UPA with essential medical supplies and consumables.
With staff and partners in the field, UPA can mobilize resources, financial and human, on short notice in the most efficient way to support Palestinian communities in times of need. As a humanitarian organization, we provide a trusted path to direct response.
