Help Keep Gaza Medical Supplies in Stock

For the last ten days, Dr. Ghassan Abu Sitteh, a surgeon from the American University of Beirut (AUB) Hospital and the founder of the Conflict Medicine Program, has been volunteering at Al-Awda Hospital in Gaza.

Today Gaza is tending to its wounds. Its people are burying their loved ones or visiting the injured. The horror visited it on Monday has left Palestinians in Gaza reeling from the pain but certainly not defeated. The pain of the loss of those who are no longer with us, the pain of those injured and are now facing a lifetime of disability. Most of all the pain of being abandoned by the world said Dr. Abu Sitteh.

Dr. Abu Sitteh told me this morning that medical personnel is in desperate need of vital medical supplies and pharmaceuticals. To compound the tragedy, these supplies are available in Gaza, but prices have skyrocketed with demand.
In response to Dr. Abu Sitteh’s request, UPA’s staff in Gaza were authorized to immediately purchase and deliver the medical supplies that are available on the local market. Additionally, UPA will be airlifting 2 containers of pharmaceuticals and hospital consumables to the region in the coming days.

Dr. Abu Sitteh has some of the best credentials in the world, but he and his colleagues cannot continue saving lives if they are lacking the pharmaceuticals, tools, and consumables they need.
Please make a donation to the UPA Emergency Relief Fund today and help keep vital medical supplies in stock tomorrow.

Your donations will help us show the people of Gaza that they are not forgotten.

With gratitude,

Saleem F. Zaru

Executive Director
