Investing in Yousef

Today, many students have returned to their classrooms to embark on another year of learning and growing. For many students in Palestine, like Yousef, this is a bitter-sweet experience due to inevitable challenges that await most graduates, including financial insecurity, job insecurity, and a suffering economy.

Yousef is a Palestinian student from a refugee camp in Hebron who is studying physics and mathematics at a local university in the West Bank.

After his father passed, Yousef knew tuition would be too much of a financial burden for his mother, so he took on a few part-time jobs. Because of you, Yousef received a scholarship that allowed him to stay in school for another year.

The scholarship alleviated my heavy financial burden and saved me the trouble of having to think about how to cover tuition,” said Yousef.

With all the struggles and challenges that Palestinian students continue to face, one might wonder why we continue to invest in education as Palestinians. After all, what is the purpose of this investment if employment is scarce?

We invest in education because it is our sacred right.

We’ve dedicated an entire campaign to support this right not only because it is part of our mission, but because we see the potential in students like Yousef. After all, these students are the future of Palestine.

Education is the ultimate investment in Palestine’s most valuable resource: the human being. We cannot continue this transformative work without you.

Please donate to UPA today to make an everlasting impact on Palestinian lives like Yousef.
