Lebanon Emergency Relief

The bombardment of Lebanon has escalated at terrifying speed. The Lebanese government estimates that over one million people have been forced to evacuate their homes. The Nakba continues.

Lebanon is host to almost 500,000 Palestinian refugees scattered among twelve camps created after the 1948 Nakba. Most of them are now second- or third-time refugees facing repeated trauma and loss.

Even as we mourn the one-year commemoration of the genocide in Gaza, our hearts extend to Lebanon. UPA’s presence in Lebanon began in 1982 because of a similar Israeli invasion and has continued for the last 42 years. Our presence on the ground and long-standing relationships with partners have allowed us to respond rapidly to provide hygiene and dignity kits, and food, as well as urgent medicine modules that will treat up to 10,000 patients over the next three months. We have also launched a partnership to support a trauma center with a burns unit at a new hospital on the outskirts of Saida in South Lebanon.

Lebanon’s resources—particularly for Palestinian refugees—are exhausted and the need ahead will be great. Preparation is everything. We seek your help in raising $1.5 million to continue to build and expand our emergency response. Your gift will support the following interventions:

Hospital generator fuel * Critical pharmaceuticals and medical supplies * Mattresses and blankets for schools housing displaced families * Clean water and adequate washing facilities in shelters * Food parcels for families both within and outside shelters * formula and diapers * Hygiene kits to preserve dignity and prevent disease * Services to make shelters conducive to temporary living and safe spaces * Mental health and psychosocial support

We come to this new crisis informed, ready, and with a strong presence on the ground reinforced by our staff and a network of strategic partners. And we come to you knowing that we can live up to your expectations to do the necessary work to preserve the dignity and wellbeing of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

Lebanon needs us, and we need you. Please give today. Your support will save lives.
