UPA’s agriculture initiatives promote sustainable agricultural practices that are designed to increase food security and financial independence and protect the Palestinian land and environment. As always, we focus on vulnerable and impoverished areas first, with the goal of promoting a higher quality of life for rural families.
The sustainable agricultural practices that our initiatives promote include the use of organic fertilizer, drip irrigation and raised beds to take advantage of every drop of water, as well as the use of organic methods to control pests and adopting crop diversity. Combined, these farming methods have helped Palestinians produce healthier crops year-round for household use and for commercial purposes.
UPA also reaches elderly Palestinians living in refugee camps by promoting community gardens and providing training on the preservation, marketing, and sale of garden produce. These strategies have successfully increased food security and supplemented the income of refugee populations.
