Featured Projects
In 1985, UPA funded the construction of a $2.4 million nursing college on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. The college would be named Makassed Islamic Charitable Hospital Nursing College-Jerusalem.
Completed in 1990, the College graduates 30 nurses a year. Services at Makassed Hospital are constantly in high demand. The hospital is the major secondary and tertiary referral hospital for difficult and complicated cases from the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
It provides a range of specialties including internal medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics, plastic surgery, and open heart surgery. Operated under the auspices of the Makassed Islamic Charitable Society, the hospital is committed to offering subsidized fees to low-income patients. This commitment to providing quality healthcare to all Palestinians regardless of means is particularly important to preserve at this time.
