This Ramadan, Extend the Table

In Palestinian culture, generosity is deeply rooted in hospitality. Family, friends, and often times strangers are welcomed into our homes and invited to share a meal.

This Ramadan, UPA is asking our supporters to Extend the Table for Palestinian refugees and vulnerable families in our community. We have identified new ways to reach out to those who might otherwise be forgotten; and in doing so offer not only food, but food with dignity and sustainable solutions to food insecurity.

Donations made during the first week of Ramadan will be matched up to $25,000.

How are we Extending the Table?

In Lebanon, our table extends to Palestinian refugees in the camps from Tripoli to Tyre, from Beirut to the Baqaa Valley, from Saida to Sabra and Shatila. We extend the table to Palestinian refugees from Syria, as well as those refugees who have been pushed out and who now reside adjacent to the camps in informal gatherings, which have no access to UN and other basic services.

Palestinian refugees living in extreme poverty will receive food vouchers. Food vouchers offer dignity of choice, which is especially important given the catastrophic economic situation in Lebanon.

Elderly refugees in Lebanon will receive a hot meal each day during Ramadan. Children with disabilities will be fed and given new clothes for the Eid with a message that each one of them is precious.

In Gaza, households headed by our Palestinian sisters, and households with orphans and children with disabilities, will receive food vouchers.

Our table extends to particularly vulnerable families in Nuseirat and Beach refugee camps, as well as Gaza City where recovery from last year’s bombing is still ongoing.

A cluster of rural villages in the southern West Bank, cut off from their own farmland and surrounded by illegal settlements, will be equipped and trained to grow crops in raised garden beds. Fresh vegetables will be harvested during Ramadan and for years to come.

By extending the table and promoting resilience in traditional agricultural communities, we not only reduce poverty but we move one step closer to a sustainable future.

Your gift today will be doubled, extending its impact!

When UPA connects your charitable gift with a Palestinian family in need, we do so in the pursuit of justice, equity and to plant seeds that will transform many lives for years to come.

Together, we can Extend the Table.

May you and your family have a healthy and blessed Ramadan.

Ramadan Kareem!
