Together for Lebanon: UPA Launches Urgent Support Campaign for Lebanon
Although Lebanon is no longer in the headlines, millions of people in the country remain with little to no support.
This September marks thirty-nine years since the Sabra and Shatila Massacre was committed against Lebanese civilians and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
A catastrophe that shocked global consciousness, the massacre led to establishing UPA’s Emergency Relief Fund, which continues to provide quick, efficient, and effective support in times of crisis.
The ongoing crises that recently brought the country’s economy and public services to a complete halt left more than half the population in poverty. Meanwhile, less than 20 percent of the population is vaccinated against COVID-19, and vulnerable communities remain threatened by the virus and its variants. Most recently, a crippling fuel shortage left hospitals and clinics unable to provide adequate health services.
