Join us for an evening of music featuring selected works by Palestinian composer, Amin Nasser, who will be in attendance. And a performance by world-renowned pianist Fadi Deeb, with vocalist Nour Darwish, a rising opera star from the Nazareth area.

About the composer:

Amin Nasser is a Palestinian composer and musician who has been a driving force in the advancement of classical music in Palestine. His compositions include national anthems and art songs honoring his country and its people. He draws inspiration from the works of poets and artists, both those that came before him and his contemporaries, producing compositions highlighting and honoring their art and their struggles to create a homeland for their people. In 2000, he was appointed as the first director of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music—which he helped establish with five other Palestinian musicians. Nasser currently resides in Ramallah where he serves on the advisory board of the Edward Said National Conservatory.

Amin Nassar’s newly released debut CD — which is a collection of piano sonatas performed by Fadi Deeb and was produced in collaboration with the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music — will be available for purchase at the venue.

About the performers:

Fadi Deeb is part of a promising new generation of Palestinian musicians whose enticing interpretations have captivated audiences worldwide. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from Stony Brook University and delivered his American concerto debut with the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra playing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. Deeb has made concert appearances in the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.

Nour Darwish has performed as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and others. She also performs Arabic repertoire accompanied by various Oriental orchestras. She was recently awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue graduate studies in the USA.

All revenue will support UPA’s Emergency Relief Fund.

Doors will open at 6:30 PM with the concert beginning promptly at 7:00 PM.
