Winter storms hit refugee camps

The memory of a snowstorm where people are gathered around a fire could be charming. The memory of a winter storm in a refugee camp is quite horrific.

Imagine living in a small concrete structure with cold concrete floors, a metal roof, and no insulation. As you are reading this, Palestinians in Jordan’s Gaza Camp are suffering under freezing temperatures, strong winds, and heavy rain, and are expecting another major snowstorm. Families, confined to their shelters without heat or running water, are on edge not knowing what the next cold, dark night will bring.

During last year’s winter campaign, with your support, we distributed enough kerosene to keep 120 families in Gaza Camp warm for an entire month. This year, we want to reach more Palestinian families in Gaza Camp and want to expand our reach to Hittin Camp (also known as Marka Camp).

We will begin kerosene distributions in two days to meet these urgent needs. We have already raised some funds, but not enough. Your timely support is so critical.

Can you help us provide heating fuel to Palestinian families in two of Jordan’s most marginalized refugee camps?

A $50 donation will provide one family with a month’s supply of kerosene.  Please make your gift to UPA now.

“Together, we can ease people’s fears. And we can replace their tears of sadness with tears of joy and gratitude,” said Saleh Alnajjar, director for camp services in Hittin Camp.

Again, your donation of $50 will keep a Palestinian family warm for a month

Our work is not possible without your support. No donation is too small.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Nisreen Abu AlSheikh
